Shoe care

When putting the shoes on, use a shoe horn, do not bend the heel counter. Never machine wash the shoes, do not dry them at the direct heat source, do not expose the shoes to the temperature above 50°C neither to the long-term direct sunshine. Each kind of material requires a special treatment and cleaning - see the instructions to your specified kind of shoes. Always wear socks in your shoes. After taking off your shoes, check them for moisture/traces of sweat and let them dry completely before putting them on again.

Choosing the right size

The shoe should never hurt or press your foot! However, it should not be too loose. When trying the shoes on, wear ordinary socks.  Lace up the shoes so that your heels would "settle" down into their proper position in the shoe. When trying out, it is recommended to elevate the heal a bit and put your weight on the toes - this way the toes slide forward slightly and you can find out whether there is enough space for your toes. Lace up the shoes and just walk around a bit to get the right feeling.

Due to the design, the "Sundara" line shoes have their maximum toe-width approx. 1-2 cm from the tip the shoe. It means that when wearing Sundara shoes, you can have 1-2 cm of a free space in front of your toes (1 cm with smaller sizes and 2 cm with larger ones). However, you should never "trip over" the tip of your shoe when walking. With the "Paws" line, only a little free space in front of your toes is sufficient.

Safety guidance

The shoes may not be suitable for everyone. There are situations, place and diagnoses, which preclude wearing these shoes. Please always consult your physician. The shoes are not suitable for children under 3 years and persons with the feet shorter than 165 mm. When the shoes are used by a minor, or a person at your legal liability, you are liable to ensure that such person will follow safety guidance.

The footwear is meant for walking on solid surfaces. Always choose a proper size of your shoes and a model corresponding with your intended usage. The footwear can be used in wet conditions, however it is necessary to pay increased attention, because wet surfaces lower/change the adhesive propertions of the shoe outsole (especially on wet pavements, stones, etc.). Before using the footwear in wet conditions, it is recommended to apply waterproofing on the shoe upper. Do not walk/step on sharp, slippery, unstable or otherwise dangerous objects and surfaces. The footwear is not suitable for wearing when driving a car since due to the increased width of the shoe the proper funcions of the pedals can be affected.

Be aware that it is so called "barefoot" footwear, where your feet can funcion as if walking barefoot. Your way of walking should therefore be similar to walking barefoot - gentle, silent and careful (see "How to practise .." section). The Ahinsa shoes are not orthopaedic footwear, neither medical or trekking footwear. By putting on the shoes you agree on following these conditions.

How to practise the mindfull walking style

As the Ahinsa shoes are the "barefoot" footwear it is necessary to walk in them as if walking barefoot. It means especially gentle and soft foot-ground contact. Hard "stomping" on your heals may seriously damage your legs. Following exercises are recommended to practise the gentle foot-ground contact in order to utilize the barefoot footwear properly.

The proper barefoot walking technique can have many positive benefits, it may stimulate your brain, activate the muscle complexes throughout the whole body and active the deep stabilization system (deep layers of muscles supporting the stability of your motion support, including the diaphragm and pelvis bottom). It can help your joints and it can support prevention of various civilization illnesses, it may help the injury prevention, support your coordination and efficiency. When considering these recommendations as well as the following exercises, please be aware of our medical information disclaimer - always consult your physician.

1. exercise

  • Find a calm place and stand on the hard floor barefoot. Cover your ears.
  • Try to walk around and listen/observe if you feel the vibrations when your foot contacts the floor. Pay attention to the heel area - whether you stomp.
  • If so, try to soften your walk to limit the "noise".
  • Try and practise this first slowly and then increase your speed gradually to keep the gentle way of walking at higher speed as well.

    2. exercise

  • Just pay more attention to your foot soles whenever walking - just your attention will naturally soften the way your feet touch the ground.  :)

Quality warranty

We have done our best to make the shoes which would serve you long and faithfully. If there is still a warranty claim, please contact your dealer where you have bought your shoes.

Please consider that you are buying "barefoot" footwear. It is designated to give you the feeling, experience and advantages of barefoot walking. Contrary to the traditional shoes, it has no stabilizing bars, straps or supports, so its durability is limited. Limited technological durability of the design is compensated by selection of the top quality materials. However, the durability and care requirements of different materials (see the details of each model) must be taken in consideration. By learning the naturally more careful way of walking in "barefoot" footwear the shoes suffer less wear. Be aware that the shoes are designed to be as flexible as possible and intentionally do not have any "constructional" supports, straps and bars, so the upper may bend and wrinkle.

Warranty covers only quality defects and malfunctions, not the wear-out due to the long-term usage. Improper usage voids any warranty claims.

In case of a warranty claim, contact your dealer with a description of the defect and any purchase documents you possess (invoice, bill, order confirmation, etc). Do not forget to mention your contact details and shipping address. If you are asked to return your shoes, they must be complete and hygienically clean. The warranty must be claimed immediately after defect detection (please refrain from using the damaged shoes further until the warranty is resolved).
